How to choose a gift for a dog

I have my dog Jade in 2001, when I was a student at the University of Oregon. In December, Jade and I traveled to California, where I was spending the Christmas break with my parents. The Christmas Jade got our own stock and had more presents than I was under the tree. And I was absolutely thrilled. Today I'm more Christmas gifts for pets of people to buy, as I for the people who belong to bin where the animals. Here are some guidelines for the purchase of gifts for pet parents:

1) Realize that pet owners love gifts for their pets.

This may seem obvious, the world statement, but I have an incredibly hard time convincing my friends that no pets, while I do not need another thing, Jade can never have too many treats, toys or gift certificates for the slopes. It is expensive to own a pet, and while I do not need another pair of earrings, Jade really needs a hair cut about once a month.

2) When in doubt, ask.

As the daughter of the owner of a pet business, it is for me to do gifts to the pets of my friends and family. But does not mean I know what they want their pets or give as logical. I'm a pretty straightforward person so I usually say, "I want your dog / cat / bird / reptile a gift this holiday season, which products to enjoy your pet." I love this question because while my parents are able to describe with delight as her cat chases everything that moves, my good friends tell me that their guess two Lhasa Apso, if it is not round and not through the ground roll, it is not interesting. My dog on the other hand, could care less about toys Jade, he just wants edible gifts.

3) Gift Vouchers are a great gift.

Remember what I said to Jade must be maintained each month? He also needs a new bed (he literally dug a hole in his current one) and the good are not cheap. Oh, and I need to get a few more flea and tick control. And it is time for a new collar, his old one is pretty ratty. You see where I'm heading with this? A store gift certificate to my favorite animal, or a local who want to love you and support, really means a lot.

4) If money is tight, offer your services.

We pet owners need more than "stuff". We also need services. We need someone to guard and animal care, when we go out of town. We need someone to get our dog for a walk when we work late for the 6th Consecutive day and our dog is out of my head, because he used to walk the dog park or a long walk every second day. If money is tight, but you have to have a little time to make a certificate good for two long walks in the park, or sit for an overnight pet, or for a pick up and drop-off from the runway. These can be like little gestures, you seem, but for us pet owners, they mean the world.
