Foxhounds had come the first of the canine races in Great Britain under the domination of scientific breeding. It had dogs of ancient origin, such as the Southern Hound and the Bloodhound been, but something else was at the end of the seventeenth century to hunt wild deer, which wanted to have some scattered after Cromwell's civil war. The demand was therefore for a faster dog than the previously known, and dedicated to the people who hunt, she began to breed.

Shoulders: -
The blades should meet well laid in the back, and should, otherwise broad and strong, the arms, that should be long and strong.
Legs and feet: -
The bone should be completely straight from the arm down, and get as much on the size to the ankles. The knee should be almost flat and level, it should not curve up to the next-to-toe, which can be very strong, rounded, cat-shaped, should set and each toe as they were clean.
Head: -
The coat is hard down hair, but short and smooth, the texture is as stiff as bristles, but beautiful.
Color: -
Belvoir tan, which is brown and black, perfectly mixed with white markings of various shapes and sizes. The white should be very opaque and clear. Black and white, with brown markings on the head and knees. Badger pied a kind of gray and white. Lemon pied, light yellow and white. Hare pied, a darker yellow and white.
Height: Dogs from 23-1/2 to 24 inches, females from 22 to 22-1/2 inches.
