Tips for introducing cats

If you choose a new cat into your home, it's usually more exciting for you and your family than it is for the cat you already own. Although most cats are solitary by nature, most come to finally accept or tolerate any additions. Cats can be very territorial, so you should always be careful when you introduce a new cat to your current cat.

If you are introducing kittens to one another, the entire implementation process to be short, lasting as little as 10 to 15 days. Introducing cats to each other all depends on their temperament and personality. If you introduce a new cat to your current cat, you should always make sure that you give your current cat lots of love and attention. This way, your cat will feel safe and know that he is not in competition with your new cat for affection.

When you bring your new cat home, you should stay in a safe place until you have completed the introduction of cats. Your safe room can be any small room in your house as a bathroom or bedroom spare parts. The key here is to a room that your current cat does not use go into the room, you should leave your new cat a scratching post, bed, water bowl, litter box and food bowl.

At first, the current cat may howl and hiss when he stands at the door, tried the other cat that he is not telling. If this you should ignore it, as punishment for his behavior is your cat's only lead to more problems. After a while the first cat will start to act when he quietly near the new cat door. When he starts to act calm, you should pet him and give him praise.

If your first cat starts to go for your new cat door and not howl or hiss, you can start introducing them to each other. The best way to do this is to add it to each other's scent. You can eat the same food bowl, although it will feed at different intervals at first. In this way the scent of any cat food bowl is at present, and each cat will get the scent when he eats his food.

Once both cats have got used to the smell, you can begin to feed them closer together. To do this, you should take your new cat in the safe room with the door closed, and your first cat on the other side of the door with his food bowl. This time, feed both cats at once. After having this a few times, they should start eating without noise or hum. At this point they are ready, introduced to each other.

If they do know each other in the same room, a bit of growling and hissing is to be expected. Although they each other fragrances can be used, your first cat will still feel a little awkward with your new cat in its territory. You should use them both in the first game so that they can smell each other and greet in their own way. If they start to fight, you should break up and give them some time apart.

It may take some time to use them fully to each other, although if they do - they will become playmates for life. Cats love to be social, although it is a little rough at first may seem, the first specifically for your cat. Cats can be very territorial, especially if you have a kitten around. If you both get used to each other early on - it will be much easier, future cats to your home.
